West Hollywood advances Rainbow District sidewalk-vending pilot
The City Council directed staff to build a program aimed at helping sidewalk food vendors become licensed, permitted businesses.
West Hollywood’s City Council voted Monday to move forward with developing a sidewalk-vending pilot in the Rainbow District, NBC4 Los Angeles reported. The proposed program would designate an operating area and help participating food vendors navigate city registration, permits and other regulatory requirements.
Status: Staff was directed to design the pilot and return to the council
Area: Rainbow District, with exact boundaries still to be recommended
Details still pending: Eligibility, operating standards, fee assistance, privacy safeguards, costs and compliance rules
Program details are not final
The official October 19 council agenda shows that staff must return with recommendations before the program is launched. The council’s direction does not yet establish the final vending zone, enrollment rules or start date.
