LASD arrests man accused of impersonating officer in West Hollywood
A driver allegedly claimed he was with the Department of Homeland Security after deputies stopped a vehicle without a rear license plate on Sunset Boulevard.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told NBC4 Investigates that West Hollywood deputies stopped the vehicle at about 9:45 p.m. Friday. Authorities said the driver described the vehicle as his personal car and claimed Homeland Security affiliation.
Location: Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood
Stop: About 9:45 p.m. Friday
Vehicle: No rear license plate; forward-facing red and white lights
Status: Held without bail, according to LASD
Booked on two allegations
Deputies identified the driver as a person on active parole, LASD said. He was booked on suspicion of impersonating a peace officer and possessing drug paraphernalia.
Authorities did not say whether the emergency-style lights had been used before the traffic stop or provide further details about the alleged impersonation. The accusations have not been proven in court, and an arrest does not establish guilt.
