Topanga Canyon Boulevard restricted to residents during red-flag warning
Caltrans will restrict access to Topanga Canyon Boulevard between Mulholland Highway and Pacific Coast Highway from 6 a.m. Thursday through 10 p.m. Friday because of dangerous fire weather.
Only residents will be allowed through the affected stretch of State Route 27. Caltrans said the restrictions were coordinated with Los Angeles County Public Works and the Sheriff’s Department as strong Santa Ana winds, low humidity and high temperatures increase wildfire danger.
Sheriff’s deputies will staff checkpoints along State Route 27, Old Topanga Road and surrounding canyon roads. The county Fire Department will monitor conditions and respond to any flare-ups.
Restricted section: Mulholland Highway to Pacific Coast Highway
Planned start: 6 a.m. Thursday, October 15
Planned end: 10 p.m. Friday, October 16
Access: Residents only
Alternate routes and updates
Caltrans advises through travelers to use Interstate 10, U.S. 101 or Interstate 405. The agency said the schedule may change with weather or operations, so motorists should check Caltrans QuickMap before traveling.
