Nearly 200 firefighters contain South L.A. church fire
An overnight blaze heavily damaged a two-story church on South Paloma Street, but firefighters kept it from spreading to neighboring buildings.
ABC7 reported that the Los Angeles Fire Department received the fire call at about 3:30 a.m. Strong winds carried embers toward nearby homes, prompting firefighters to request additional resources.
Response: Nearly 200 firefighters
Knockdown: Less than two hours
Other structures: No neighboring buildings caught fire
Injuries: None reported
Cause remains under investigation
Crews poured water onto the building until the flames were out, leaving much of the church's frame exposed. ABC7 said the structure has burned at least three times in 13 years. Investigators had not announced a cause as of Monday morning.
