Souplantation plans 2027 return in Fountain Valley
The soup-and-salad buffet chain says its first announced California comeback will be at a former Souplantation location on Talbert Avenue.
Souplantation plans to reopen in Orange County in 2027, returning to California six years after the buffet chain closed all of its locations.
City: Fountain Valley
Address: 11179 Talbert Ave.
Target: 2027; a specific opening date has not been announced
Former location will welcome customers again
A Sweet Tomatoes representative confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that the approximately 7,800-square-foot Fountain Valley restaurant will occupy a former Souplantation site. The company said it intends to bring back the familiar recipes and rotating monthly specials associated with the chain.
Eater Los Angeles reported that the California location will operate under the Souplantation name. The company has not announced another California site, although it told the Times that additional expansion is under consideration.
A Southern California brand returns
Souplantation began in San Diego in 1978 and grew to dozens of California restaurants before the pandemic-era shutdown in 2020. The related Sweet Tomatoes brand has since reopened restaurants in Arizona and Florida.
