Six Flags Magic Mountain has temporarily closed Goliath after a fatal incident involving a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia on Monday, October 12. A company spokesperson told CBS Los Angeles there is no timeline for the local ride to reopen.

Local ride: Goliath at Six Flags Magic Mountain

Status: Temporarily closed

Reopening date: Not announced

Companywide action: Nine similar rides closed at six parks

Closure described as precautionary

Six Flags said attractions similar to the Georgia coaster were closed “out of an abundance of caution.” The list confirmed by the company includes Goliath at Magic Mountain, along with rides in Illinois, New Jersey, Ontario, North Carolina and Ohio.

The Associated Press reported that one person died and several others were injured in the Georgia incident. Authorities had not confirmed how the person died or how the others were injured, and the Cobb County Police Department’s major crimes unit is investigating.

What remains unknown

Six Flags has not announced how long inspections or the precautionary closures will take. The company said it is cooperating with local authorities in Georgia and providing support to affected guests and employees.
