Four LAFD firefighters and civilian injured in Silver Lake house fire
The fire was quickly extinguished Wednesday morning, and investigators were working to determine what caused it.
Four Los Angeles Fire Department members and one civilian were injured after a fire broke out at a Silver Lake home Wednesday morning, according to the department.
Reported: 10:48 a.m.
Location: 2600 block of North Lakewood Avenue
Patients: Four firefighters and one non-LAFD member
Status: Cause and patient conditions not confirmed in the initial reports
Fire extinguished quickly
LAFD said arriving crews found flames coming from a single-family home and received reports of a possible gas leak. Firefighters entered the structure and quickly put out the fire.
The department reported that three patients had been taken to hospitals and that another transport was anticipated. ABC7 and CBS Los Angeles reported that the injured people’s conditions were not immediately available.
Cause remains under investigation
LAFD said the cause of both the fire and the injuries had not been confirmed. Arson investigators were dispatched to determine what happened; their involvement does not by itself establish that the fire was intentionally set.
