San Diego County opens 2027-28 community grant applications
Public agencies and tax-exempt nonprofits have until 3 p.m. October 30 to seek federal block-grant support for qualifying projects in unincorporated communities.
San Diego County opened applications October 15 for its 2027-2028 Community Development Block Grant program. The federal funding can support community facilities, infrastructure improvements, affordable-housing acquisition or preservation, neighborhood improvements and a limited range of public services.
Projects submitted through the county’s funding notice must be located in unincorporated San Diego County. Projects in Coronado, Del Mar, Imperial Beach, Lemon Grove, Poway and Solana Beach should be directed to those cities’ housing departments; other cities administer their own programs through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Deadline: 3 p.m. October 30, 2026
Eligible applicants: Public entities and tax-exempt nonprofit organizations
Eligible area: Unincorporated San Diego County
Program year: 2027-2028
Who and what can qualify
Proposals must benefit low- and moderate-income residents, meet HUD requirements and align with the county’s five-year consolidated plan and annual strategy. The county also requires projects to support its commitment to vulnerable communities.
Residents may suggest project ideas but cannot receive grant funding directly. Applications are being handled by the county’s Housing and Community Development Services department.
