Metrolink will raise selected fares across its Southern California commuter-rail network beginning Monday, October 5. The agency says one-way tickets will increase by about 14% on average, the weekday SoCal Day Pass will rise from $15 to $19, and the weekend and holiday pass will increase from $10 to $12.

What it means locally

Metrolink announced the changes in September, and the Los Angeles Times reported the approaching increase on October 2. Prices for monthly and 5-Day Flex passes may increase slightly, remain unchanged or decrease depending on trip distance because they are calculated from one-way fares. The $5 LA Zone Day Pass will not change, and existing student, youth, senior, disability, veteran, active-military, Medicare and low-income discount percentages will remain available. Metrolink says rising operating and maintenance costs, reduced post-pandemic ridership and declining state and federal support contributed to the adjustment. Print-at-home one-way tickets also end October 5; riders can use the mobile app, station machines or Union Station ticket windows.
