Construction begins on new LADWP customer center in Hollywood
A new Los Angeles Department of Water and Power facility is being built to combine in-person utility service with community space in Hollywood.
LADWP announced October 20 that construction has begun on the La Kretz Center at 1033 Cole Avenue, following a groundbreaking ceremony on October 17. The project is scheduled to run through fall 2028.
Planned services: Utility-bill payment counters and enrollment help for LADWP support programs
Community features: Public meeting space and a parking lot with electric-vehicle chargers
Schedule: Construction is planned from fall 2026 through fall 2028
A replacement for the Sunset Boulevard office
When complete, the center will replace LADWP’s existing Hollywood customer-service office at 6547 Sunset Boulevard. The utility says neighborhood businesses and other properties will remain accessible during construction, though temporary parking restrictions may be posted near the work zone.
The Morton La Kretz family provided the land. John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects designed the facility, and Green Building Corporation is building it, according to the utility.
