Skubal leads Dodgers past Braves 5–3 in NLDS opener
Tarik Skubal worked six strong innings and Los Angeles hit three home runs to take Game 1 at Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers opened their National League Division Series with a 5–3 victory over Atlanta on Saturday, Reuters reported. Skubal allowed one run on two hits, walked two and struck out seven in his first postseason start for Los Angeles.
Three home runs build the lead
Teoscar Hernández put the Dodgers ahead with a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Kyle Tucker added a two-run shot in the sixth, and Max Muncy followed with a solo homer that stretched the lead to 5–1.
Braves rally falls short
Sean Murphy homered against Skubal in the sixth. Ozzie Albies cut the deficit to two with a ninth-inning home run, but Evan Phillips retired Austin Riley with the potential tying run at the plate to finish the win. The game began in 100-degree heat.
