California releases broad assessment of coast and ocean health

A state-backed report examines environmental pressures and progress.

The California Ocean Protection Council and California Ocean Science Trust released the 2026 California Coast and Ocean Report. The assessment says the coast and ocean face climate threats to habitats, species and services people rely on.
